Montessori Toys for 1-Year-Olds

How we write: we have not run hands-on product tests. These guides explain what to look for at each stage and why, so you can judge any toy yourself. We never publish invented prices, ratings, or reviews; check the retailer for current details.

Toddlers between 12 and 24 months love to fill and empty, push, pull and copy what adults do.

What to look for

  • Push toys or sturdy walkers for new walkers (check stability).
  • Shape sorters with a small number of shapes.
  • Child-sized practical-life items: a small pitcher, a cloth, a low step stool used with supervision.
  • Board books with real photos and simple words.

Safety first: always follow the age grading on the package and supervise play. For children under 3, avoid small parts (see our safety checklist).
